CPC certifying

As of September 10, 2009, a new law will apply to all truck and bus drivers driving in commercial traffic. According to this, everyone must undergo 35 hours of training every five years in order to retain their professional qualification.

The act is based on an EU directive, in which Member States have applied different transition times. Sweden has a transition period of seven years, which means that if you have not completed the 35-hour education before September 10, 2016, you will not be entitled to drive a truck/bus. Read more at the Transportation Agency,  here .

The purpose of these provisions is to improve road safety, increase driver safety and facilitate future recruitment of drivers.

Improving and maintaining a high level of drivers proficiency is also a good investment for both security and financial reasons. Experience shows that it is fully possible to reduce fuel consumption by 10% with an improved driving style. This, in turn, reduces emissions and, in the long run, tire wear and strain on the driveline.
